Do you know a special educator, administrator, or team who has
done incredible things for students with disabilities? (Of course you
do!) Do you know a student with a disability who is resilient, has
persevered, accomplished huge goals, and is an inspiration to their peers and
teachers? (Of course you do!)
SST-8 is
now accepting 2018 nominations for Outstanding Special Educator (Franklin B.
Walter) award and Outstanding Student with a Disability (R.A. Horn) award.
Please complete and submit applications to Maureen Cacioppo at [email protected] or
using the mailing address on the forms by February 28, 2018.
A few important notes:
=Districts may nominate up to 5 students with disabilities for
the Outstanding Student (R.A. Horn award). This is to ensure that we have
the space and resources for all districts across our three-county region to
participate.
=Districts may nominate one or more educator (or team) for the
Franklin B. Walter award, but please nominate each individual/team in only one
category. This year we have added a category called “Growing Great
Schools”) which recognizes the students, classified staff, community members,
and other unsung heroes who help transform schools into safe, supportive, and inclusive
learning environments for all, in addition to our previously existing
categories of “High Impact Instruction” (excellence in instruction and special
education service delivery) and “Systems Leadership” (systems change/reform).
=Our annual awards ceremony is scheduled for the morning of April 27, 2018 (located at St. George
Event Center in Fairlawn); additional event details will be forthcoming in
March-April.
