Description:  PBIS is a prevention-oriented way for school personnel to (a) organize evidence-based practices, (b) improve their implementation of those practices, and (c) maximize academic and social behavior outcomes for students.  PBIS supports the success of ALL students (PBIS.org).  This Overview will take participants through Tier 1 of the PBIS framework as it relates to Early Learning.  Participants will learn about strategies and resources for preventing and responding to challenging behavior, review the need for program wide expectations, a system of reinforcement, and data systems to help guide decision making and behavior monitoring from a program level.  Participants will review their program’s action plans to make connections between individual program plans and the Tier 1 framework.  This training is for classroom assistants whose program is implementing PBIS, for new teachers to a program whose program is implementing PBIS, and for those who are looking for a better understanding of the PBIS Framework.
