REGISTRATION DETAILS:
Components of Early Literacy - Social Communication  - Developing Social Communication skills start early and represent a skill set that we as individuals rely on throughout our lifetime.  Social communication skills are the staring point on the language to literacy continuum, and help us to know how to use language for different purposes, adapt our language to the listeners we are talking to, and what we need to understand to be an effective communicator and listener.  Like many other life-long skills, children need to direct opportunities to learn about and practice social communication skills. This session will explore how this topic impacts the work we do, to building foundation skills for reading success, and ties into proactive teaching in the PBIS framework.  5.0 Ohio Approved (OA) Hours pending.  Registration through SST8 then will be added in OCCRRA pending approval. 
Two Graduate Credit Hours: Must attend all sessions scheduled for the 2019-2020 school year. Participants will need to submit certificate of attendance as well as a reflection on which strategies they implemented in the classroom for each session to Annette [email protected] 

Course Credit Option:

One or two Graduate Credit Hours are available through Ashland University. In order to receive credit, you must contact Alice Doyle prior to your attendance at the first components of literacy session. Alice will provide you with information on how to register for the course credit option.

One Graduate Credit Hour: Must attend at least 3 sessions that equal or exceed 12.5 hours of face to face training time. Participants will need to submit certificate of attendance as well as a reflection on which strategies they implemented in the classroom for each session to Annette Gross[email protected].
