This workshop will provide an introduction to Teaching
PLAY, a program designed to effectively engage students on the autism spectrum
and with other developmental delays in the school setting. Participants will learn about the PLAY
Project’s evidence-based approach to developmental intervention. The workshop will provide practical tips for
improving relationships and increasing engagement that school staff can use in
their everyday interactions.
Participants are encouraged to come to the training
with a child in mind. Prior to the
training permission forms will be sent to participants if they are interested
in bringing videotape evidence to use in their small group planning and
discussion. No child information will be
shared with the larger audience.
Those that attend the one day training, will be
invited to apply to phase 2 of the training series. In phase 2, participants will receive
classroom based coaching and support from the Teaching PLAY trainers throughout
the year to support implementation of the strategies. Information on Phase 2 will be shared at the
training.
