Educator teams will learn the WHYs and HOWs of a co-planning and co-serving service delivery model, including co-teaching instructional approaches and the critical components of co-teaching. Participants will reflect on their roles as general educator and intervention specialist individually and as a collaborative team.
Participants will delve into differentiation through co-serving and meeting the needs of all students in the inclusive setting through thoughtful co-planning. Strategies for students to approach learning as well as behavior management strategies for the classroom will be emphasized. Both instruction and assessment/grading are important when co-serving and data collection/analysis will be discussed. Also, it is imperative that specially designed instruction be delivered and monitored within the co-taught environment to address and support underlying skills that are barriers to success in the general education environment.
Teachers will have the opportunity to collaboratively implement their newly acquired skills between sessions and reflect on the successes and opportunities for growth during each session.
Building administrator must attend 1st session (encouraged to attend all)
Intervention specialists must attend sessions WITH co-teacher
Co-teaching teams must commit to time set aside to CO-PLAN with co-teacher (whether this time is provided by your district or on your own)
Series Dates: October 31, 2017, November 14, 2017, December 12, 2017 & January 30, 2018
(February 6 will be an extra meeting date if there are any sessions cancelled)
