Nominations for 2019 Outstanding Special Educator/Student with Disability Awards
small stars spilling out of trophy cup
SST-8 is now accepting nominations for the 2019 Franklin B. Walter Outstanding Special Educator and R.A. Horn Outstanding Student Achievement awards.  As always, we look forward to learning more about the excellent educators making a difference every day in your schools, and the incredible kids whose resilience and perseverance know no limits.

Unfortunately, due to fiscal and personnel considerations, State Support Team – Region 8 will be unable to host an awards event in 2019. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.  In lieu of a regional event this year, we encourage districts to honor their nominees through local awards events, a Board of Education ceremony, displays at school buildings, etc. SST-8 will honor nominees by sending them a Certificate of Achievement and including their photo in a regional gallery of honorees. In June, one educator and one student nominee from Region 8 will be recognized at a awards ceremony in Columbus, along one educator/student from the other 15 SST regions in Ohio. Starting later this spring, SST-8 will be reaching out to nearby ESCs to discuss possibilities for partnering on an awards event for 2020.

Districts may nominate more than one educator or student, as long as they have not been nominated in the past.  Because we are not having an awards ceremony this year, we have lifted the limit on the number of students that can be nominated per district.
