In order to effectively address the issue of chronic absenteeism, it is crucial to explore and define the various factors that contribute to a student's frequent absence from school. This involves a comprehensive understanding of the unique circumstances that may affect a student's ability to attend regularly, such as health issues, family dynamics, and school environment.
The first strategy SST will share is the Early Warning Intervention Monitoring System (EWIMS). An Early Warning Intervention Monitoring System serves as a crucial tool for identifying students at risk of chronic absenteeism and intervening before the issues escalate. By monitoring specific indicators like attendance patterns, academic performance, and behavioral issues, educators can develop tailored support strategies. Understanding the components of EWIMS, such as data collection methods, risk assessment criteria, and response protocols, is essential for implementing an effective intervention framework.
Improving attendance through enhancing Family Engagement will be a key component of the professional development. This involves equipping educators and families with strategies and resources to support the student’s educational journeys. By fostering strong communication between schools and families, and providing guidance, schools can significantly impact student attendance rates.
