Curriculum and Special Education Director teams (1 person representing special education, 1 person representing curriculum at a minimum) are invited to join us for a dynamic professional learning on the intersection of literacy practices for students with disabilities, the speech pathologist role in literacy, and successful graduation for all students. This session will emphasize the necessity of collaboration across departments. Together, we will explore how evidence-based literacy practices support students with disabilities. Critical considerations for SWD and their pathway to literacy achievement. In addition, we will discuss the alignment of IEP goals to students’ specific skill deficits for literacy. Lunch will be provided and we invite you to engage in a focus group discussion around designing successful educational experiences for students with disabilities and identifying what support from SST8 is needed to overcome barriers to implementation. Our goal is for this focus group to continue to work on addressing these barriers into the 2025-2026 school year.
In the afternoon, we will dive into Progress Toward Graduation (PTG) data, using the ODDEX tool to identify at-risk students and assign targeted interventions. Through case studies and application-based learning, we will examine how Graduation Plans and Student Success Plans can guide students toward graduation. Finally, we’ll connect this work to your One Plan, exploring how career pathways can be expanded to provide students with more opportunities for success.
