This session will provide an in-depth look at which K-3 literacy skills should be measured (from a science of reading perspective), what is actually measured by assessments, and what the data is revealing to guide instruction.
*Participants will understand the literacy skills that need to be assessed and what the resulting data indicates
*Participants will be able to determine the type of literacy assessment tool (benchmark screening, progress monitoring, diagnostic...) best suited to gather data on critical early literacy skills
*Participants will collaboratively examine different assessment tools to determine efficacy in measuring the critical early literacy skills
*Participants will reflect on the tools used by their own district to determine the efficacy of those tools in measuring the critical early literacy skills
