Success in special education can feel like a moving
target. Stay focused and get the
information you need to support high-quality service delivery with our
bimonthly series for special education leaders. Hear the latest from ODE, learn about
effective practices for closing achievement gaps, receive materials and talking
points to help keep your building personnel sharp, and network with area
colleagues around the hot topics of the day.
- September topic: Leveraging Tier I for Literacy Achievement. We’ll hear from SST-8
Consultants Stephanie VanDyke and Tracy Mail, and Streetsboro Elementary
Principal Greg McClellan, about a pilot project focused on intensive literacy professional
development for PK-3 teachers. This
focus on improving Tier 1 literacy instruction is yielding positive outcomes
for Streetsboro’s young learners and offers important take-aways on how to
improve literacy outcomes for all within an MTSS framework. We encourage you to invite a colleague from
Curriculum/Instruction within your district to advance your opportunities to
collaborate on this important work.
- Lots of topical updates and announcements!
Also, a reminder for those folks in districts involved in the
Summit ESC Selective Review: Please register the LMS Follow-Up Train-the-Trainer event,
immediately following Special Ed Foru, to receive information/materials to
support LMS follow-up with your staff.
Please see my email entitled “SST-8 training plan for LMS
failure/Selective Review support” sent on 8/22/18 for the registration link and
PIN. Please contact Maureen Cacioppo at [email protected] if you have any
difficulties with registration.
